The Belgian and Nordics FootballTech Meet & Greet

With SportUp, we're always happy to connect and partner up with other sports tech startup ecosystems. One we didn't really yet tapped into is the Nordics one. And so, The Belgian & Nordics FootballTech Meet & Greet was set up as an invite-only event organized by SportUp, Flanders Investment and Trades and Nordic Sports Tech, bringing together bright minds from the world of football, science and industry.

The Nordic offices of Flanders Investment and Trade (the trade promotion agency of Flanders, Belgium) in Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki (Hanna Tuohino, Mikael Larsson & colleagues) partnered with the Nordic Sports Tech community (Geet Raju & friends) as well as SportUp, to bring together the innovative and ambitious sports tech clusters of both regions. Together, we reached out to the Belgian and Nordic startups and researchers to provide them with an opportunity to pitch their innovative solutions to help solve challenges presented by specific sports organizations and sectors.

The goal of the event was to give the sports tech startups a chance to pitch their ideas to a jury consisting of the national football associations and other audience consisting of investors, researchers and corporations. During the online event on Thursday the 11th of February 2021, 50 meetings were planned based on a match between person's profile, interests and requests. At SportUp, we're a big fan of targeted matchmaking in an efficient manner, with follow-up conversations being planned for those people we are interested in further collaborations. Key topics which were discussed were focused around aspects as training optimization, injury prevention, data and video analysis, among others.
